A pair of James Purdey & Sons 12 bore self-opening sidelock side by side ejector shotguns, each with fine rose and scroll engraving to the locks, underside, trigger guard, fences, top plate and thumb lever, chequered grip and forend, carved teardrop to the wrist, double trigger and named 30 inch barrels choked ½ and cylinder, overall lengths 119cm, each length of pull 38cm, serial numbers 22811 and 22812. Built in 1925 for Lord Ramsey and presented to him on the 25th July 1925, the gold cartouche to the underside of the stock on gun No.1 reads 'Presented To Lord Ramsey On His Coming Of Age By The Tenants On The Brechin Estate 25th July 1925' and the matching cartouche on gun No.2 reading  'Presented To Lord Ramsey On His Coming Of Age By The Tenants On The Panmure Estate 25th July 1925'. The guns are accompanied by a history certificate from James Purdey & Sons confirming the provenance and listing the details of the gun on completion and work carried out at a later date. PLEASE NOTE THAT A VALID RELEVANT FIREARMS/SHOTGUN CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED TO HANDLE/PURCHASE THIS ITEM.
